The BMW G20/G21 B48/B58 Eventuri intake system is designed to provide the turbo with a less restrictive flow path while maintaining low intake temperatures. Heat and volume are key considerations when designing an intake system for turbocharged engines. On the G20, the intake system is located next to the exhaust manifold, which quickly sweeps the engine bay with heat. High temperatures are detrimental to engine performance as the turbo would need to be charged with heated, less dense air, so the only way to keep IATs to a minimum is to have a fully sealed intake. However, this results in a limitation with only one supply air feed to draw air from. During development, we identified an additional opening in the wheel arch area and took advantage of this by adding a second feed to our airbox.

In addition, our sealed airbox also features a gold reflection heat shield to minimize radiant heat transfer from the exhaust manifold. To maximize volume, we made the airbox as large as possible with a cutout for potential strut bracing. The stock corrugated intake pipe has been replaced with a smooth carbon pipe that also has a larger internal volume with an initial internal diameter of 111mm (4.4?) and gently tapers downwards to match the turbo inlet. The pipe provides a smooth path from the filter to the turbo inlet. Finally, we use a custom high-flow dry filter that is ISO tested for filtration performance and has a larger filter area than the stock filter.

The G20/G21 B48/B58 Eventuri intake system is made up of a number of components designed for a specific purpose and manufactured to the highest standards. We use 100% prepreg carbon fibre with no glass fibre, meaning we can achieve a smooth internal surface to get a more consistent airflow.
