Following our 8V RS3 system, we have now added the 8Y system to our range. The 8Y RS3 intake system is suitable for all power levels, from stock to those with more than 1000 hp. This intake system is designed to provide the highest possible flow rate while achieving the lowest intake temperatures. Every component has been designed to give the turbo a smooth and free flow path. The intake pipe has an internal diameter of 103mm or just over 4? and has a smooth curve from the filter housing to the turbo inlet. The filter itself has been specially designed for this inlet and has a huge external diameter of 210mm or 8.3? with a filter area of ​​over 130,000mm^2. The patented venturi housing has been designed to provide the maximum possible internal volume for the RS3 engine bay and provides laminar flow to the turbo pipe. Finally, the duct seals the filter opening to the front slam plate, but is not restricted solely by the stock intake opening. We raised the front of the duct to now create an additional opening behind the hood, which equates to an additional 7" diameter hole from which air can be drawn. The resulting system has the ability to handle 840 CFM at 28" H2O while keeping intake temperatures to a minimum with the sealed design.

flow tests

We conducted tests using a Superflow SF-1020 to measure the maximum possible flow rate at a pressure drop of 28" H2O. The tests were conducted on the same day under controlled conditions using the same test fixture for each system. We tested our complete intake system against the stock airbox system. The results show how restrictive the stock airbox is, which we were able to improve by up to 58% in the maximum possible flow rate. Importantly, this was achieved with a sealed intake system so intake temperatures are also kept to a minimum.

dyno tests

Our RS3 intake system has been tested by various reputable tuners worldwide who have built high performance RS3/TTRS projects for street and track use. The first results come from MSL Performance who tested our system on a stock 8Y RS3. The tests were done back to back on the same day. As you can see, there is a measurable gain across the entire rev range up to 22 hp. This gain is noticeable even on a stock car on the street through better throttle response and quicker acceleration.
