Significantly upgrade your AUDI A3 8V with the original multifunction buttons.

Here we supply you with the retrofit package for installing the original multifunction buttons in your AUDI A3 8V.

Control the radio / MMI navigation system and the on-board computer from the steering wheel!

After briefly plugging it into the very easily accessible OBD diagnostic interface in the driver's footwell, the KECODI coding interface supplied here uses the innovative KECODI that is already preset for you to fully automatically unlock the multifunction steering wheel.

The retrofitting of the original multifunction buttons (= control buttons on the steering wheel) is possible on all AUDI A3 / S3 8V models of all years of manufacture (pre-facelift / facelift) and all body styles (3-door, sportback, sedan, convertible).

The on-board computer (= FIS, driver information system) is then also available in the speedometer and can be controlled via the new steering wheel buttons, provided it is not already installed at the factory.

In addition, the efficiency display, the pointer display, the lap counter of the AUDI S3 / RS3 and the oil temperature display in the speedometer are activated, which you can control and select using the multifunction buttons.

By querying the chassis number, we check which steering wheel is currently installed and provide you with the appropriate complete package for easy retrofitting.

The Plug & Play cable set is simply plugged into the steering wheel - no further wiring etc. is required.

You do not have to unpin/pin/solder any important wires from the existing airbag wiring harness.

Leather steering wheel (= steering wheel with "blind cap"):

The black cover ("blind cap") which runs around the steering wheel is replaced - the multifunction buttons are inserted into this new cover and connected using the supplied cable sets - as installed at the factory.

Plastic steering wheel (= steering wheel without "blind cap"):

For these models with a built-in plastic steering wheel, the steering wheel must be completely replaced as it does not have any "blind caps" - we supply the right steering wheel and make it in leather. The airbag will still fit pre-facelift models up to and including model year 2016 and is simply plugged back into the steering wheel supplied by us. For facelift models from model year 2017, the airbag must always be replaced; it is not included in the scope of delivery and is required in addition (you can obtain this airbag directly from your local AUDI partner and it costs around 700 EUR).

For AUDI A3 8V models without an already installed HIGH diagnostic interface / gateway, this must also be replaced.

To check which diagnostic interface is currently installed:

Connect your AUDI A3 8V to a diagnostic system (e.g. VCDS, KECODI). Open the control unit address 19 - in the information field appears e.g.:

Gateway LOW = low = not suitable

Gateway MED = medium = not suitable

Gateway HIGH = high = suitable (the currently installed control unit does NOT need to be replaced)

Alternatively, you can remove the control unit installed in the driver's footwell behind the steering column and read the sticker on it, which says LOW, MED or HIGH. Unfortunately, it is not possible to view this remotely or using the AUDI spare parts catalog; the current installation must always be checked directly on the vehicle.

A LOW or MED control unit is occasionally installed in models with less equipment (e.g. without navigation system, without xenon/LED headlights, etc.).
